Over one hundred active and retired firefighters and their families gathered uner a large tent behind Aurora's Central Fire Station for the memorial and reunion. While members of the AFD honor guard read the 548 names of those who have served as paid members of the Aurora Fire Department, those present (or their designated decendents) approached the front podeum where they were presented with a commemorative badge.
Following this ceremony, a brief memorial service was held to remember those who have died while members of the Aurora Fire Department and then the crowd processed two blocks away to the unveil plaques marking the two locations where Aurora firefighters have died in the line of duty.
