Firefighting Today
After World War II, many new villages, towns, and fire departments were formed, and firefighting became a logical choice of employment for many ex-service men returning home. These men brought a renewed sense of military discipline, and training to the fire fighting profession.
Today's firefighters do more than fight fires. Emergency medical calls, hazardous materials incidents, water rescues, high-angle and below ground rope rescues, firefighters of the twenty-first century are well trained and versatile.
