Some say that the firefighters still wait…standing in silence, listening for an alarm bell that had yet to ring. Enjoy an array of flavorful hors d’oeuvres and curated sips with fellow guests before setting off on the guided paranormal tour led by local historian Tracy Duran and seasoned paranormal investigator Meggan Sommerville. Costumes encouraged. Recommended for ages 16+.

Join us for October’s First Fridays! In preparation for our 8th Annual Community Hero Day on Saturday October 4th we are asking our visitors to share with us who their community heroes are! Guests will be able to share their heroes and help us decorate a banner that will be on display on Community Hero Day. We will have free admission from 5pm to 8pm. Information about Community Hero Day will also be available.
Join us on September 27th to celebrate Worldwide Day of Play! We will have $5 Family Admission! Kids will be able to be creative, imaginative and inventive through play as they create their own firefighting tools and equipment with recycled items in our makerspace!
Our World: Worldwide Day of Play is a global play event presented by Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums.
The Aurora Regional Fire Museum in collaboration with Waubonsee Community College and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office will host the Third Annual First Responder Career Fair. The Fair will be on Saturday, September 20 from 9am-Noon on the downtown Aurora campus of Waubonsee Community College at 18 S. River Street Aurora IL.
There will be information on current openings at various departments and organizations as well as information about educational opportunities. At 11am join members of local organizations for a panel discussion where they will speak about their experience, answer questions, and share advice with attendees.

Each department is raising fund for a charity of their choice and the fire department selected the Aurora Regional Fire Museum! Join us Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th from 7:00pm-8:30pm for a haunting evening at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum. Built in 1894 as Aurora‘s old central fire station, the museum boasts a long, rich, and haunting history.
The Fire Museum is rumored to be home to the spirits of two children who can be heard giggling, a cantankerous male spirit that prefers an early bedtime, and a dapper fireman who enjoys seeing people walk around and admire the engines.
We will be joined on this paranormal tour by Aurora Historian, Author, Paranormal Researcher, and local Tour Guide, Tracy Duran, alongside Medium and Hoof + Horn shop Witch, Ruby Sue Bee.
You’ll get to enjoy a brief presentation by Tracy, accompanied by enchanting hors d’oeuvres and a Magical Mocktail, and will then get to explore the museum on your own with EMF readers to see if the ghosts of the museum’s past will unveil themselves to you!
Dressing for the occasion is encouraged, so conjure up your best witchy outfits, and make this an October to remember! This event is kindly sponsored by local shop Hoof + Horn.

This event continues to be a success due to overwhelming support from our partners and the citizens of Aurora and surrounding communities. Families will have an opportunity to once again participate in our touch-a-truck with vehicles spanning from police and fire to community services.

Our World: Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon’s Our World global initiative to inspire kids and provide them with tools to activate their individual and collective agency. As part of a network of than 300 ACM member children’s museums who reach millions of families in North America, and the more than 1,000 museums participating in Museums for All, a national access initiative that ACM manages, the Aurora Regional Fire Museum is a vital collaborator in the Our World: Worldwide Day of Play.

Join us for our annual First Responder Career Fair bringing together over a dozen departments and organizations across the sectors of fire departments, law enforcement, healthcare, and educational opportunities available through Waubonsee Community College.
Representatives from each organization will have information about current openings as well as information on openings. At 10:30am, there will also be a panel discussion with individuals from local police and fire departments to answer questions about their career paths, how they got to the position they are now in, as well as share advice with attendees.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, our annual Community Hero Day will take place on the grounds of the Fire Museum from 10am-2pm. For the Finale, we will feature a live burn demonstration in partnership with the Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board and the Aurora Fire Department, showcasing how quickly fires can spread as well as the importance of fire sprinklers in saving lives and property.
